ELSA - ELSR Safety lines
Fastening Pin Placement
Edilmatic's Safety Lines are developed by means of Columns and/or Supports being positioned on concrete structures and fixed to the latter by Fastening Pins to be arranged in the formworks, before casting.
Both Pin types can be placed in the formworks in different ways, depending on the shape and the dimensions of the structure; it is important to consider that the system perfectly functions if the distance from the edge being provided for is kept (Figure 3) and the minimum concrete resistance class required to ensure an effective tightness in case of a pin falling (RcK • 35N/mm2) is followed.
As reported in Figure 1, the Pins can be fastened to the reinforcement by using steel wire to be applied at any point of the insert or inserted in the formworks from above, with semifluid concrete; at this stage, make sure not to cause a concrete detachment, to avoid the latter, we suggest to vibrate the concrete next to the protective box, in order to simplify the bond coefficient of the concrete and make sure the pin does not sink into the latter.
Thanks to the material the Fastening Pins are made of, it is possible to slightly weld for fixing the Pin to the reinforcement. The Pins can then easily be positioned and fixed before casting, in order to avoid non-intentional movements during vibrations.
While positioning the Fastening Pins make sure the latter are perpendicular to/aligned with the surface of the structure the Supports and/or the Columns shall be fixed on (Figure 2).
At a components installation stage/while utilizing the Safety Lines as well as after identifying the position of the Fastening Pins (easy to find due to their colour), the user only needs to remove the plug from the Protection Box, position the Support or the Column with the hole over the Box, insert the hexagonal fixing bush and tighten the latter (Figure 4).
To carry out the aforementioned operation, a normally available spanner Ch=24mm and/or dynamometric spanner (torque 5kgmt) can be used. To properly position Fastening Pins and fasten the components, the relevant instructions reported in the “Use & Maintenance Handbooks” supplied with each Line package shall be followed.
